All About Us
The Dance Collective is a school for children to grow and learn to dance. We strive to bring out the best in our students by stimulating their minds, challenging their abilities and uplifting them with positive reinforcement. We strongly believe that if we can help strengthen a person's character...the dancer will emerge. Our school's focus is on dance technique but taught in a way that is creative. Our passion is to provide fun, structure, friendships and inspiration through quality dance education for all age levels. We guarantee your child will learn a new step, concept and routine at every dance lesson. Our students receive a free CD that is handed out to enhance home practice and auditory memory. Through our Petite Dancer program your child will learn ballet technique at the preschool level as well as basic ballet terminology, how to use props, learn choreography to music, posture and balance, rhythm, tempos and timing. Fun and enjoyment underpins all classes. As the children advance to the next level we teach more solid ballet technique with emphasis on understanding body placement, proper use of turn out, and coordination of upper body with use of arms. Ballet technique builds the foundation for all forms of dance. We also offer advanced training for students and opportunities to participate in other venues such as dance companies, competition formats and college auditions.
Our Dance Program separates us from others for several reasons:
Our dance instructors are professionals who have degrees and have danced professionally
All our dance curriculum is published and used by other dance studios and we created it!!
Our dance program is a unique combination of ballet, jazz and tap taught during each class. This allows our students to experience and enjoy all three without the additional cost of individual classes
Our school runs by semesters. We run this way for a couple reasons. This break allows our instructors to attend conferences to continuously pursue the latest in dance education. We also value time with family. This allows a break for our non professional students. Other schools/studios will run all year with a string of individual classes and a major performance at the end of the year which can be extremely costly for parents. We do provide a performance, with multiple projects but our focus is on learning "to dance" rather than learning "a dance". We also have a Tiara Award Ceremony after each semester.

The students of Miss Michelle have always tested at least 3 levels higher than age appropriate levels. Miss Michelle's teaching principles begins with a deep respect for each child's individual personality, learning style and potential. In the studio, there is a firm belief that all children are equal and that it is the instructors responsibility to reach all children, through teaching methods that incorporate the three styles of teaching modalities, kinesthetic, visual as well as auditory. Miss Michelle's goal is to educate the minds and bodies of her students and to teach them the skills needed for a successful life....whether or not her students ever desire to pursue dancing beyond her school doors, she wishes to assist in leading them down the right path to becoming outstanding people first and outstanding dancers second.
